What is Recipes Per?

It is necessary to select ‘Recipe Per’ for all recipes entered into My Recipe Manager. Please keep in mind that all schools operate differently, meaning your ‘Bench of 2’ could be quite different to another schools ‘Bench of 2’. You are able to select an option based on the requirements of your school.

‘Recipes Per’ refers to the number of students your recipe is suitable for. All recipes have different quantities, and while some recipes may be individual, others may cater for multiple students. As well as this, all schools operate differently – a recipe suitable for three students at one school may not be suitable for two students at another school.

From the drop down list, the options to choose from include:

  • Student (suitable for one person)
  • Bench of 1 (suitable for one person)
  • Bench of 2 (suitable for two students)
  • Bench of 3 (suitable for three students)
  • Bench of 4 (suitable for four students)
  • Bench (suitable for multiple students)
  • Class (suitable for an entire class)

Examples:

If a recipe states it is suitable for a Student/Bench of 1, the quantity of ingredients will likely produce enough for one student. See example below.

If a recipe specifically states it is suitable for a Bench of 3, the quantity of ingredients will likely produce enough for three students. See example below.

If a recipe states it is suitable for a Bench, the quantity of ingredients will likely produce enough for multiple students and is dependent on a variety of factors (class size, school size, budgets etc.). For example, you may have a class where there are mixed groups of two and three, therefore the students in groups of two will split what they have cooked in half, whereas a group of three will split what they have cooked into thirds. See the example below, which could be used for two students, three students or four students, depending on how your school operates.

If a recipe specifically states it is suitable for a Class, the quantity of ingredients will likely produce enough for an entire class. This is particularly useful for ‘individual orders’ as it is a way to create one recipe that includes all necessary ingredients for a whole class. See example below where students submitted individual food orders and their teacher collated these to produce a ‘recipe’.
